Mental Health is the overall emotional, psychological, and social well-being of an indivdual. Mental health affects they way people make decisions, build relationships, and go about daily tasks in their life. According to Harvard Medical School, one in every two people will experience a mental health disorder in their lifetime. This is why it is more important than every to use data to find out of the causes of these, in order to decrease this statistic. This website will look over work and school stressors, lifestyle stressors, and stress/anxiety tied to age and gender. Follow along as we uncover the sources.
After looking at the different visuals concerning the different topics, it can be concluded that there is no clear answer as to the cause of Mental Health struggles. Every person is different and struggles for different reasons. However, there were some trends worth mentioning.
Work & Education:
The key takeaways from this section are that one's education level and job industry could affect their mental health, though these things are certainly not a predictor of mental health struggles. Additionally, the data almost seems to suggest that the less hours per week one spends working, the more likely they are to suffer from mental health issues.
Lifestyle:
Some key takeaways from this section are that low self-esteem correlates to higher anxiety levels, and that low sleep times correlate to more mental health struggles. However, screen time does not seem to affect mental health, nor does the amount of time one spends socially.
Gender & Age:
The key takeaways from this section are that the social media platforms that cause the most stress are different depending on one's gender, and how the number of sleep hours affect one's mental health depends on age. Therefore, age and gender both play a large role in one's overall mental health. Aditionally, increased therapy does not necesarily correlate to better overall mental health.
